4. Old Testament Survey

This class gives a general overview of each book of
the Old Testament portion of the Bible. Students will
gain an understanding of the historical background,
central theme or purpose, literary design, cultural
context, and applicable message for contemporary
believers. The purpose is to prepare the student for
more intensive studies in the Old Testament. Emphasis is placed upon gaining an overview of the Old Testament through a survey of geographical and historical backgrounds and a book-by-book study for a clearer understanding of the central themes. It would help the student value the Old Testament as the revelation of God to His people and challenge them to think through the structure of the books of the OT and why each author organized the material the way they did. It would increase the hunger of the students to love and study the Scripture on a regular basis.

5. New Testament Survey

This class gives a general overview of each book of the New Testament portion of the Bible. Students will gain an understanding of the historical background, central theme or purpose, literary design, cultural context, and applicable message for contemporary believers. It would challenge the student to think through the structure of the books of the NT and why each author organized the material the way they did. It would increase the hunger of the students to love and study the Scripture on a regular basis.

In the end, students would be familiar with the important principles that must be followed to interpret, understand and apply God’s word, correctly. They will also be better equipped to preach and teach the word with greater confidence and relevance.

Homiletics is the art of crafting and communicating life application messages. In this class, we will discuss the principles and processes of forming and presenting life-changing sermons. The class is designed to enable every student to learn the principles of effective communication of the gospel in any setting, either in a local church setting or other gatherings. It would also discuss the essential attitudes and practices that make the presentation of the gospel acceptable. (2 Timothy 2:15).
